Afterschool & Out-of-School Meals

STEMventures recognizes that students learn best when their nutritional needs are met. As part of our Out of School Time programming, we intentionally integrate food access, nutrition education, and hands-on learning into our after school experience.

Nutrition within STEMventures is not separate from academics, it is purposefully embedded into instruction to support the whole child.

During this structured session, students:

  • Measure ingredients using precise mathematical calculations
  • Apply fractions, ratios, and conversions
  • Follow multi-step procedural directions
  • Practice safe food handling techniques
  • Strengthen fine motor skills through cutting and portioning
  • Observe scientific cause-and-effect during preparation

This applied model reinforces math, literacy, executive functioning, and real-world application while providing a nutritious meal.
