About us

Kids At Their Best (KATB) began with a clear realization: rural youth often face unique structural barriers, from generational poverty to a lack of local resources. Since 2006, our organization has led the charge in Fort Morgan community outreach, ensuring that zip codes do not define a child's destiny. We operate as a licensed and reputable nonprofit serving the Eastern Plains, providing a bridge between rural values and big-picture possibilities. Our mission is to inspire, educate, and empower young people to become confident, compassionate adults who are ready to lead.

Our approach is uniquely mobile and neighborhood-based. We understand that transportation is a major hurdle for many families, so we bring our programs—ranging from food distribution to STEM enrichment—directly to where people live. Today, we serve over 600 children who speak 26 different languages, making KATB a vibrant reflection of the diversity within our rural communities. We are proud to be recognized as a national model for community engagement, but our focus remains local. We are dedicated to creating a leadership pipeline that starts in kindergarten and continues through college and career placement.

We address the "whole child" by integrating food security, housing stability, and workforce development into our core programming. By hosting AmeriCorps members and partnering with local schools and businesses, we create a network of support that catches those who might otherwise fall through the cracks. At KATB, we believe that when youth are given the tools of foundational truth and courageous leadership, they gain the power to shape a future of their own making. We invite you to join our mission as we continue to grow, serve, and empower the Fort Morgan community.
